TERRIFIED Emmerdale star Danny Miller was forced flee a mob who targeted him because of the gay character he plays on screen.

One of the homophobic louts yelled: "There's that gay lad off telly - let's f***ing get him."

The 19-year-old heartthrob Aaron Livesy in the ITV1 soap - was chased through the Manchester streets after he left a gig with a pal on Friday.

An onlooker told The People: "It was terrifying. A group of lads shouted, 'Oi gay boy, you out with your boyfriend tonight?' "Another screamed, 'Oi faggot, is that your boyfriend?' Then the yobs started running and screaming, 'Get him, get him."

The British Soap Awards best actor nominee wrote on Twitter: "A couple of drunken lads took a few swings at me. I haven't been hurt."

Only weeks ago Danny, who is straight in real life, was targeted by "sad" people because of his TV character. He said: "A guy in a club shouted 'Poof' at me. It's a bit sad that some people can't see the difference between real life and a soap opera."

Millions of extra viewers tuned in to see his on-screen kiss with Mark Silcock, 21, who plays Jackson Walsh.
