 GERMAN SAVINGS BANKS ASSOCIATION
OPENS 7,000 ATMS TO VISA CARDHOLDERS
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 5 /PR Newswire/ -- Visa International has announced that the German Savings Banks Association, the Deutsche Sparkassen- und Giroverband (DSGV), will open its network of 7,000 automated teller machines (ATMs) to Visa cardholders through its new membership with Visa.
The German Savings Banks Association ATM network will begin dispensing cash to Visa or Plus cardholders in early 1993.
Jean-Jacques Desbons, president and chief executive of Visa's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, said: "The German Savings Banks Association is responding to the desire of Visa cardholders -- 66 million in Europe alone -- to obtain German Marks easily through conveniently located cash dispensers throughout Germany. This will also mean a greater return on investment from the association's ATM network and more usage of the savings banks' ATMs."
Visa is the largest consumer payment system in the world. It has more than 10 million acceptance locations, the leading global ATM network, and 291 million cards issued, including 144 million in the United States.
