GERIATRIC & MEDICAL CENTERS DENIES ALLEGATIONS
 PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Geriatric & Medical Centers,

Inc. (NASDAQ: GEMC) has stated that GMS Management, Inc., a subsidiary of the company, has been the subject of an investigation by a state Grand Jury of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
On September 1, 1992, GMS Management, Inc., and four of its employees were indicted in connection with the death of two nursing home residents which occurred on September of 1990 and November of 1991. The charges include involuntary manslaughter and improper Medicaid billing for these two residents, technically constituting Medicaid fraud. The company strongly denies these allegations and is confident it will prevail when all of the facts are presented. Published reports indicate that several states have used this type of criminal prosecution to raise issues concerning the quality of health care in those states.
Geriatric & Medical Centers, Inc. and its Pharmaceutical, Home Care Services and Long-Term Care Management and Development Group is a leading provider of health care products and services to hospitals, HMOs, physician groups and long-term care facilities in the Mid-Atlantic region.
