GEORGIA-PACIFIC SAYS CLASS ACTION SUIT WITHOUT MERIT
ATLANTA, Feb. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia-Pacific Corp. (NYSE: GP) said today that a class action lawsuit filed against the company in federal court in Atlanta is entirely without merit, and the company intends to defend itself vigorously.
The claims for unspecified damages, made by certain purchasers of the company's stock, involve Georgia-Pacific's alleged failure to disclose in a timely manner litigation in the state courts of Mississippi that seeks damages relating to the discharge of trace amounts of dioxin into the Leaf River from a pulp mill owned by a subsidiary of the corporation.
The suit also names as defendants certain current and former officers and directors of the corporation.
