IN RESPONSE TO COACH BOBBY ROSS' ANNOUNCEMENT
ATLANTA, Dec. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Tech President John Patrick Crecine issued the following statement today in response to Head Football Coach Bobby Ross' announcement that he will be leaving Tech to join the San Diego Chargers organization:
"On behalf of the Georgia Tech community, I would like to thank Coach Ross for the excellent job he has done in restoring Georgia Tech's football program. He strengthened Georgia Tech's tradition of providing student athletes with educational as well as athletic opportunities, maintained our position near the top of Division I universities in player graduation rates, and laid a solid foundation for the program's continued success on and off the football field. I wish Coach Ross well and continued professional success in his future endeavors.
"During the past few days, I have been in continuous contact with our Athletic Director, Dr. Homer Rice and I have named a faculty and alumni search and selection committee. We expect the Georgia Tech Athletic Association to be in the position to name a new head football coach in the very near future."
