ATLANTA, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Power Company has

announced a new financing program -- called "Georgia Express" -- for its customers, to take effect May 1.
The new program is available to the utility's customers who install certain energy-efficient electric equipment such as air conditioning, heat pumps and water heaters in their home.
"The program is designed to encourage the installation of this equipment by offering affordable financing rates with convenient payment terms for the customer," said Paul Bowers, Georgia Power's vice president of marketing.
According to Bowers, the loans range from $1,500 to $7,500 at a fixed annual percentage rage of 12.9 for the life of the loan. "The interest rate may vary for future loans as market conditions change," he said.
"The loan can be repaid in monthly installments as part of the customer's monthly Georgia Power bill," he added.
To qualify for the loan, which is offered through Trust Company Bank, the customer must do all of the following:
-- Install energy-efficient equipment in his or her existing single family home. The home must be the customer's primary residence.
