GEORGIA GULF MINIMALLY IMPACTED BY HURRICANE ANDREW
ATLANTA, Aug. 27, /PRNewswire/ -- Georgia Gulf (NYSE: GGC) today

announced that its Louisiana operations suffered no major damage as the result of Hurricane Andrew.
The company did disclose though that electrical power, supplied by Louisiana Power and Light Co. (LP&L), has been interrupted as the result or effect of Hurricane Andrew. LP&L has advised Georgia Gulf that it estimates power should be restored in four or five days or on or about Aug. 31.
"This unscheduled downtime could have some modest impact on quarterly performance," said Jerry R. Satrum, president and CEO. "However, we believe that supply commitments to our customers for selected products, including vinyl resins, phenol, acetone and methanol, will be met with some minor shipping delays. The company will find it necessary to declare force majeure and allocate supplies of chlorine, caustic soda and vinyl chloride monomer at a level yet to be determined," Satrum added.
Other Georgia Gulf facilities located in the Gulf region were unaffected by the hurricane and are presently fully operational, the company said.
