GEORGIA DNR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION DIVISION ISSUES AIR QUALITY PERMIT TO WESTERN WHEEL GEORGIA, INC.

ATLANTA, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- The Environmental Protection Division (EPD) of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources has issued an air quality permit to Western Wheel Georgia, Inc., to construct and operate a cast aluminum wheel manufacturing plant at 1215 Palmour Drive in Gainesville, Ga.
EPD received a petition from citizens in the Newtown community for a public hearing on the Western Wheel application. After technical evaluations, EPD's air protection staff determined that the Western Wheel plant would not adversely impact the Newtown community, since it is located approximately three miles away and will be only a minor source of air pollutants. In addition, the company's operations should have no adverse environmental effects on any neighbors close to the Palmour Drive facility. Because of the minor nature of air quality impacts by Western Wheel, EPD officials made the decision to issue the permit.
EPD officials understand that citizens in the Newtown community have concerns about environmental quality in their area. In order to give them and other interested citizens an opportunity to discuss their concerns about Western Wheel, or any other sources of discharges to the environment, EPD will hold a public meeting on June 28, at 7 p.m., at the Georgia Mountain Center, Room A, in Gainesville. EPD Director Harold Reheis will chair the meeting.
