GEORGIA CHORALE TO PERFORM AT GEORGIA-PACIFIC'S 'ART AT THE HEART'
ATLANTA, March 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The award-winning Georgia Chorale will present an all-Gershwin selection of Broadway hits Thursday, March 18, at Georgia-Pacific Corp.'s "Art at the Heart" series. In its 16th season, the chorale will perform at 12:15 p.m. in G-P Center's lobby-level auditorium at 133 Peachtree St., Atlanta. Established in 1978, the Georgia Chorale is made up of volunteers from the Atlanta area and is one of the city's oldest singing groups. In 1984, they were the Southeast champions at the Great American Choral Festival and honored by former Gov. Joe Frank Harris with a special Georgia Choral Day proclamation. For "Art at the Heart," the 21-member chorus will perform show tunes by composers Ira and George Gershwin. Selections include: "Summertime" and "Bess, You is My Woman" from Porgy and Bess, "Our Love is Here to Stay" and "Embraceable You." Georgia-Pacific sponsors "Art at the Heart" with the assistance of the Fulton County Arts Council. The free, lunch-time series showcases some of Atlanta's unique and exciting performing arts groups and takes place four consecutive Thursdays each spring and fall. "Art at the Heart" is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. -0- 3/8/93 /CONTACT: Connie Selman, 404-220-8527, or Johanna Hicks, 404-220-6031, both of Georgia-Pacific/ (GP)
