GEORGE VILLA IS VANDAL TARGET.
GEORGE Clooney's lakeside Italian villa has been attacked by vandals - days after he controversially tried to buy a stretch of beach in front of it.
Graffiti was sprayed on the walls and windows smashed at the pounds 1m Lake Como property.
The 300-year-old Villa Margherita is next to another house belonging to the movie star and was empty while builders carried out renovations.
Last week Clooney, 43, applied to buy a stretch of public beach in front of Villa Margherita.
But local councillor Roberto Pozzi said: "We all love George but the stretch of beach he has his eyes on is one of the few access points to the water for the locals and it's used by all of them."
Clooney bought Villa Oleandra three years ago, and last year he snapped up two neighbouring properties, including Villa Margherita, and built a bridge to link them.
The star, who has apologised to locals for the chaos caused by having the stars of Oceans Twelve stay with him, has also donated money to the village school in an attempt to improve relations.
