GEONEX ANNOUNCES YEMEN OIL AND GAS EXPLORATION CONFERENCE

 ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Geonex announced today that it has scheduled the Yemen Oil and Gas Exploration Conference for: Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1993, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., at The Adam's Mark Hotel, 2900 Briarpark Drive at Westheimer, Houston, Texas.
 The conference is jointly sponsored by Geonex Aero Service, Rayman Trading-Yemen, and Saladin Holdings, Ltd.
 Geonex Aero Service, a pioneer in airborne geophysics, is based in Houston with offices in Sana'a, Yemen.
 An introduction will be provided by Adul-Ghani Al Iryani, chairman of Rayman Trading, a Yemen-based oilfield services company.
 Askar Ali H. Altaheri, chairman-oil, of Yemen's Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources (MOMR), and the key Minister for oil concessions will present the history of oil and gas in Yemen.
 The geology of Yemen will be discussed by Ali Jabr Alawi, chairman- Minerals, of the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources (MOMR), Yemen's key minister for geo-information.
 Ray Fairchild, whose insights were instrumental in the current oil boom in Yemen, is the featured luncheon speaker. Fairchild is president of Mayfair Petroleum.
 The geography of Yemen will be reviewed by Dr. Randy J. Vaughan, senior vice president, Geonex Corporation, responsible for the Yemen mapping program.
 Dr. Robert Burrowes, University of Washington Political Scientist and the foremost western authority on Yemen, will discuss the current political situation.
 "Problems and Pitfalls, and How to Avoid Them" is the topic addressed by James Moore, Saladin Holdings, Ltd., specialists in logistics and Mideast relations.
 Legal, financial and banking requirements will be discussed by a representative of Baker and Botts, Houston-based legal experts, active in Yemen and the Mideast.
 Douglas Pitcher, vice president of Geonex Resources Operations, Inc., experienced in Mideast geophysics, will provide a demonstration of the Yemen Geophysical Data on Geonex Axis Imaging System.
 A representative of Yemen's Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources (MOMR) stated that recent discoveries of oil and gas deposits in Yemen have created major opportunities for hydrocarbon development, in Yemen and the adjacent waters of the Red Sea, the Gulf of Aden, and the Arabian Sea.
