GENTEX RECEIVES $5.5 MILLION PURCHASE ORDER FOR '95 MODEL SPORT UTILITY VEHICLE

ZEELAND, Mich., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: GNTX), the Zeeland-based manufacturer of automatic-dimming automotive mirrors and fire protection products, recently received a purchase order to supply its interior Night Vision Safety(TM) (NVS(R)) Mirrors for a 1995 model sport utility vehicle from a major domestic automaker. The order is valued at approximately $5.5 million over a full model year.
Gentex Executive Vice President Kenneth La Grand said the purchase order for the '95 sport utility vehicle is further evidence of greater acceptance of the NVS Mirrors as automakers increasingly offer them across entire product lines.
"This order represents only one of approximately 20 potential new 1995 models the company expects will offer NVS Mirrors for the first time, several of which are light trucks or sport utility vehicles," La Grand said. Gentex NVS Mirrors are offered on more than 60 1993 model passenger cars and light trucks throughout the world.
Gentex Corporation develops, manufactures and markets proprietary electro-optical products: patented automatic-dimming interior and exterior Night Vision Safety (NVS) Mirrors for the worldwide motor vehicle industry, and an extensive line of fire protection products for commercial applications.
Gentex was the first company in the world to produce a commercial electrochromic mirror for the motor vehicle industry, and is the leading supplier of these mirrors to the worldwide automotive industry.
