GENERATION 5 TECHNOLOGY TO PORT GEO/SQL
 TO HEWLETT-PACKARD 700 SERIES WORKSTATION
DENVER, July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Generation 5 Technology Inc. (NASDAQ: GFIV) a leader in the development of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), announced today the signing of an independent software vendor (ISV) agreement with the Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE: HWP). Under this agreement, Generation 5 will port Geo/SQL(R), its flagship Geographic Information System software to the HP Apollo 9000 series 700 workstation family.
Generation 5 has always emphasized software development based upon current and emerging industry standards. Geo/SQL software gained industry attention by being the first sophisticated GIS to integrate the AutoCAD graphics environment with industry-standard SQU databases such as Oracle. The move to develop a Geo/SQL UNIX/RISC platform based on the "X-Windows" System and OSF/Motif standards is a natural extension of this development philosophy.
According to Mark Ducharme, manager of GIS market development at HP, "The open systems approach emphasized by both G5 and HP make this a strategic relationship based not only on corporate philosophy but on technical direction."
The joint-marketing aspects of this agreement are already being put into motion. Generation 5 is extremely excited in joining HP on their Asia-Pacific "Road Show" later this month. Geo/SQL will be a featured GIS solution in this event designed to introduce cutting-edge technology and offer world-class solutions to HP customers throughout the Pacific Rim. Frank Richardson, chairman of the board of Generation 5, will be spearheading its international sales effort. "We are very excited to offer our clients worldwide the power and sophistication of Geo/SQL operating on the fastest, most powerful desktop workstation available today," stated Richardson.
