GENERAL SIGNAL NAMES KATZ PENSION DIRECTOR

 STAMFORD, Conn., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- General Signal announced today that it has named Marc Katz to the newly created position of director -- pension investments and benefit funding. Mr. Katz will be responsible for managing the company's worldwide employee benefit funds. He will report to Julian "Jay" Twombly, General Signal's vice president and treasurer.
 Mr. Katz joins General Signal with significant experience in retirement and benefit investments, having served with AT&T for 13 years in both pension and investment management, serving ultimately as investment director. Following AT&T, he was vice president of Morley Capital Management, where he managed the firm's stable fixed income funds as well as its New York office, from 1988 to 1992. For the past year, he was director -- consulting and marketing services for Veeneman Associates, a group specializing in consulting services for defined contribution plans.
 Mr. Katz holds a B.A. degree in accounting and a masters degree in taxation from Long Island University. He and his family live in New York City.
