 GENERAL SIGNAL NAMES DUMAS PRESIDENT OF AURORA PUMP UNIT
 STAMFORD, Conn., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- General Signal Corporation (NYSE: GSX) announced today the appointment of Cleive C. Dumas as president of its Aurora Pump unit, headquartered in North Aurora, Ill.
 Together with its Hydromatic division located in Ashland, Ohio, Aurora manufactures a wide range of pumps for the commercial, municipal, industrial and plumbing wholesale markets and the combined operations had 1991 revenues approaching $100 million.
 Dumas joins Aurora from the Ingersoll-Rand Company, where he served as vice president and general manager of its Standard Pump Division since 1987. Prior to Ingersoll-Rand, Dumas spent five years in various management posts with the Goulds Pumps organization, serving last as director of international development operations. He began his career in the pump business with the Ingersoll-Rand organization in 1972, holding various engineering and sales posts in the international arena.
 In commenting on the appointment, Edmund M. Carpenter, General Signal's chairman and chief executive officer, stated that, "In Mr. Dumas we have a seasoned pump executive with broad international experience who will help provide the leadership to enhance Aurora's growth prospects on a worldwide basis."
 Dumas holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in both electrical and industrial engineering from Oklahoma State University. Dumas, his wife and two children, will be relocating to the North Aurora area.
 General Signal Corporation, with 1990 sales of $1.69 billion, is a leading manufacturer of equipment and systems for the process control, electrical, semiconductor and telecommunications industries.
