GENERAL MOTORS AWARDS PERCEPTRON NEW ORDERS

 FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Oct. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Perceptron, Inc. (NASDAQ: PRCP) announced today orders totaling $1.7 million from General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM) by GM's North American Truck Platforms assembly plants in Baltimore and GM Lansing Automotive Division in Lordstown, Ohio. The orders, for Perceptron's core product, the P1000, are for installation by year-end.
 Perceptron supplies more than 20 GM automotive and truck plants with its products, which use laser technology to measure large formed parts to ensure quality during the manufacturing process. These products allow customers to simultaneously shorten launch time, reduce costs and improve quality.

Early this year General Motors named Perceptron a "Worldwide Supplier of the Year" (for 1992) and the recipient of the 1992 "Quality, Service, Price" award for excellence in meeting key competitive success factors used in GM's sourcing strategy.
