GENERAL MOTORS APPOINTS VICKERY CORPORATE SECRETARY DETROIT, Aug. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- The appointment of Sharlene A.
"Charly" Vickery as corporate secretary was announced today by Robert C. Stempel, chairman of the General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM) board of directors. Ms. Vickery succeeds David A. Collins, who has served as secretary since 1990. She will assume her new duties on Sept. 1.
In her 25 years with General Motors, Ms. Vickery, 46, has held a variety of staff and operating assignments in personnel, materials management and manufacturing, including the post of press room superintendent at GM's metal fabricating plant in Grand Rapids. She managed a public policy advisory group for the Public Affairs Staff and was director of the Corporate Issues activity for GM's Industry- Government Relations Staff. She transferred to the GM Legal Staff in 1986 as director of Product Litigation Analysis and serves presently as staff business manager. Ms. Vickery graduated from the University of Detroit and earned an M.B.A. through Michigan State University's Advanced Management Program. She also completed Harvard's program for management development. Upon completion of his term as secretary, Collins will continue as an attorney on GM's Legal Staff.
