GENERAL MOTORS ANNOUNCES FOOD DRIVE

DETROIT, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of an annual statewide campaign to help the less fortunate, General Motors (NYSE: GM) announced today it will conduct a three-week drive in its Michigan facilities to enable its employees to donate canned foods and funds to the Michigan Harvest Gathering.
"General Motors is proud to again support the Michigan Harvest Gathering," said Bruce G. MacDonald, GM's vice president of Corporate Communications. "This is a tremendous effort on the part of the Michigan Department of Agriculture, with all proceeds going to the Food Bank Council of Michigan. The objective is that many more citizens of our state be able to provide their families with food and nourishment through the winter months."
"In 1992, the people of GM generously contributed 56,000 pounds of non-perishable food and more than $37,000 to the Harvest. This year, the need is even greater and we're asking our people to help meet the challenge," said MacDonald.
From Oct. 25 through Nov. 12, GM employees and friends will be able to bring canned goods and make financial contributions at GM locations throughout the state.
Proceeds will be collected by the Food Bank Council for distribution in the communities in which the goods are donated.
