GENERAL MANAGER OF ADELPHIA CABLE IN TOMS RIVER HONORED
 FOR HURRICANE RELIEF EFFORTS
TRENTON, N.J., Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Bill Scott, general manager of Adelphia Cable in Toms River, was honored by the Cable Television Network of New Jersey (CTN) at the network's annual CAPE Awards ceremony. He was the recipient of the network's John Cleary Humanitarian Award for his efforts in providing food and supplies for the victims of Hurricane Andrew.
The John Cleary Humanitarian Award is given to individuals associated with CTN who have demonstrated unselfish dedication for and on behalf of the citizens of New Jersey.
"There is a time when you receive an award and it belongs to a lot of people," Bill Scott said during his acceptance speech. "One hundred and eighty employees donated their time and the subscribers in Ocean County were there when we needed them."
Scott continued by thanking John Cleary, one of the founding fathers of the Cable Television Network who presented the award. "Without you, John, and your colleagues seeing the vision of CTN and making it a reality this award and evening would never have happened."
Under the guidance of Bill Scott, Adelphia Cable organized a massive relief effort for the residents of Florida hit hardest by the storm. The plan included contacting media throughout the county to run public service announcements about donating supplies. In addition, the company donated its three county business offices and 60 service vehicles as drop off points throughout Ocean County.
The relief effort continued after supplies were donated with Adelphia's employees working round the clock packing the goods, finding weather protected storage and shipping it to its final destination. The result was five fully loaded forty five foot long trailers containing 100 tons of relief supplies sent to South Florida.
The CAPE Awards, Cable Awards for Programming Excellence, were held on Friday, Oct. 23 at the Somerset-Plaza. The Cable Television Network of New Jersey honors its program suppliers at the annual event. The awards recognize craftsmanship, originality and technical quality. This year marked the ninth year for the CAPE Awards.
CTN is in its ninth year of providing program in a variety of areas for New Jersey. Telecourses, public affairs programs, religious series and entertaining programs are just a sampling of the fare on the 24 hour statewide network. CTN is a service of the New Jersey Cable Operators.
