 'HEARD ON THE STREET' COLUMN
 FAIRFIELD, Conn., May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) issued the following statement regarding today's Wall Street Journal "Heard on the Street" column:
 "We don't comment on rumors. However, we are extremely pleased with Kidder, Peabody's management team and performance. Over the past several years, Kidder, Peabody has grown more rapidly than most of its competitors and has improved its market share and its financial performance. Net income for the first quarter of 1992 was a record for Kidder, Peabody and exceeded all of last year."
