GENERAL ELECTRIC ANNOUNCES FIVE NEW OFFICERS

 FAIRFIELD, Conn., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) today announced the appointment of five new officers.
 Maura J. Abeln-Touhey, 37, is vice president - general counsel, GE Plastics, Pittsfield, Mass. She was previously general counsel of the unit.
 Stephen M. Bennett, 39, is vice president - sales, GE Electrical Distribution and Control, Plainville, Conn. He was previously product general manager - refrigeration, GE Appliances, Louisville, Ky.
 Sandra L. Derickson, 40, president of GE Capital Auto Financial Services, Barrington, Ill., has been promoted to GE officer status.
 Richard M. Jackson, Jr., 49, is vice president and general counsel - GE Lighting, Cleveland, Ohio. He was previously general counsel of the unit.
 Michael A. Neal, 40, is senior vice president and general manager, GE Capital Commercial Equipment Finance, Danbury, Conn. He was previously vice president and general manager of the unit.
