GENERAL DYNAMICS' CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER TO LEAVE COMPANY

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- James R. Mellor, chief executive officer of General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE: GD), today announced that James J. Cunnane, senior vice president and chief financial officer of the company, will resign effective Dec. 31, 1993. Cunnane, 55, has held numerous financial positions during his 15 years with General Dynamics.
In making the announcement, Mellor said, "Over the past three years, Jim has played an important role in strongly positioning General Dynamics to continue its leadership role in delivering shareholder value. I wish Jim all the best as he seeks new challenges outside the company."
Board Chairman William A. Anders added, "Jim Cunnane can be justifiably proud of his many contributions to the successful turnaround of General Dynamics and the resulting benefits to the company's customers, shareholders and employees." Anders noted that Harvey Kapnick, vice chairman of the board of directors and chairman of its Finance Committee, will continue to oversee financial policy at General Dynamics.
Commenting on his decision to leave the company, Cunnane said, "With General Dynamics' restructuring and decentralization essentially complete, and with a `well-oiled' financial machine in place, the company is poised to capture substantial additional value with or without me. From a career perspective, if I am to seek additional professional challenges, it makes sense to act now."
