GEA's Refrigeration Division extends reach by buying aero heat exchanger of Canada.

GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft, Bochum, Germany, has bolstered its Refrigeration Division by recently acquiring Aero Heat Exchanger Inc., Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, a designer, manufacturer and distributor of industrial food freezing equipment to markets in North America, Europe, Asia and elsewhere.

Aero produces freezers, chillers and coils under the AeroFreeze brand, including several complete lines of spiral freezers and tunnel freezers. The company employs 154 workers and generated sales of approximately $51.6 million (EUR 38 million) in 2006.

"The excellent freezing technology of Aero will further improve the competitive position of our refrigeration business," said Peter Schenk, a member of the GEA Group's executive board. "It is an important strategic acquisition that significantly extends our scope of products and services and gives us the ability to deliver attractive solutions with professional industrial freezing equipment to end customers."

GEA Group Aktiengesellschaft is an international technology group that focuses on specialty mechanical engineering, especially process engineering and equipment. Around 17,500 employees helped generate sales of more than EUR 4.3 billion for the organization during 2006.
