GE Financial Receives E-Z Data's 2004 Customer Innovation Award; GE Financial's Long Term Care Client Team Recognized for Innovative Roll-out of Web-Based CRM Solution.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 9, 2004

E-Z Data, Inc., a leading provider of front-office systems for insurance companies, broker-dealers, general agents, agents, and investment advisors, today announced that GE Financial's Long Term Care business received E-Z Data's 2004 Customer Innovation Award at the company's annual Client Partner Conference in San Francisco last night. E-Z Data created the award to recognize innovative and noteworthy achievements of companies using its software solutions. GE Financial was selected from among E-Z Data's corporate clients as the year's top innovator.

GE Financial licensed E-Z Data's SmartOffice(R) solution last year. To ensure successful adoption of the solution among financial professionals, GE Financial's internal marketing and adoption team took a grass-roots approach to promoting the system. "Rather than simply offering producers a tool, we wanted to show them how it could be effectively applied to make their business more productive and profitable," said Scott McKay, Senior Vice President, Operations & Quality for GE Financial. "Our goal was to empower financial professionals by providing tools that make a difference for them on a daily basis."

The program involved aggressive marketing efforts at GE Financial's annual tradeshow where financial professionals could see the new system first hand and sign up for a 60-day free trial. GE Financial dubbed the system "Rover(TM), An Agent's Best Friend," using a picture of a Jack Russell Terrier as a cornerstone of the branding effort. Upon licensing the solution, producers become part of a Charter Member user group -- a best-practices community that shares usage tips and helps members glean as much value from the solution as possible. User group sessions include detailed training videos developed with the support team at E-Z Data, as well as open discussions on how to apply each feature to GE Financial's own business processes.

This innovative marketing approach worked extremely well. According to McKay, "One of our top producers recently told us that it had taken him seven years to build a system that met his industry-specific contact management needs -- and we just handed him the same capabilities and much more." Largely as a result of the highly successful program, there has been an overwhelming response from financial professionals who want to sign on the system. As a result, the marketing team has already tripled its original goal for participation.
