GE CAPITAL FLEET SERVICES TO INTRODUCE NEW FLEET FUELING CARD

MINNEAPOLIS, Dec. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- GE Capital Fleet Services will be introducing a new electronic fuel purchasing card for corporate fleet use in the United States in early 1993 that will be honored at more than 60,000 fueling and service stations nationwide.
The new, co-branded card was developed in conjunction with Wright Express Corporation of Portland, Maine, a credit card-based information services company that works with petroleum marketers to meet the fleet fueling needs of commercial customers. The Wright Express Universal Fleet Card is the most widely accepted electronic card in the marketplace today.
GE Capital Fleet Services selected Wright Express because their product combines unique data collection and analysis capabilities with the security of an electronic card. "The new card offers our customers security and extensive information, and is easy for their drivers to use," said Bruce Martin, vice president of product development at GE Capital Fleet Services.
The card will be marketed to GE Capital Fleet Services' North American customers, representing more than 500,000 vehicles. The fully electronic program will offer customers greater control and virtually eliminate their unauthorized purchase liability according to Martin. Fleet managers using the program will be able to authorize only those drivers and vehicles they want to make purchases.
"When Fleet managers receive their management reports each month, they'll know who purchased what product, when, where and for how much on every vehicle in the fleet -- plus they will get odometer readings and cost per mile and MPG breakouts to help measure vehicle performance," said Martin. "This program offers more safeguards and information than any other fleet fuel card program in the marketplace today."
"Wright Express has had great success with national fleets, many of which are now GE Capital customers," said Matt Hoffner, vice president of sales for Wright Express. "The increased number of fueling sites will allow customers greater electronic access than ever before. They also will have the same benefits as our customers ... plus the added advantage that all operating expenses can be consolidated into GE Capital's monthly fleet management report."
GE Capital Fleet Services will market the new card and Wright Express will provide electronic processing. "We have a great deal of respect for the quality and types of services currently provided by GE Capital Fleet Services and are proud to be working with them to enhance their fuel card services," said Michael Dubyak, vice president, general manager of merchant services at Wright Express Corporation.
