Expands GE Medical Systems' Distribution Capabilities

in the Nordic European Region

GE Medical Systems, a business unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), announces today the acquisition of the ultrasound distribution operations of VINGMED Svenska AB and VINGMED AS in Sweden and Norway, respectively. This acquisition will allow GE Medical Systems to improve its direct presence in Scandinavia and provide a full range of ultrasound products and solutions to customers.

"For over a year now, GE Medical Systems has been working to establish a direct sales and service capability in Scandinavia," said Bengt Nielsen, General Manager of the Nordic European Region for GE Medical Systems. "We believe that our customers will welcome this strategic acquisition as it will allow us to offer the broadest diagnostic imaging product portfolio in the region."

VINGMED Svenska AB and VINGMED AS, established in 1968 and 1979, respectively, are distributors of GE Medical's cardiac ultrasound products. VINGMED's distribution partnership with GE Medical dates back to 1986.

"Bringing the talented team of VINGMED into our company demonstrates our commitment to ultrasound and will result in a single point of contact supported by teams of specialists for our customers," said Terje Godo, General Manager, Ultrasound Nordic Region for GE Medical Systems. "This will also allow us to strengthen GE Medical's multi-product, multi-service programs designed to help medical professionals optimize productivity and cardiac-disease management resources while maximizing the efficiency of health care delivery."

VINGMED distributes and services OEM medical equipment in the fields of cardiology, radiology, cardiac and vascular surgery, endoscopy and dialysis in Scandinavia. VINGMED will continue to support its customers in these areas.
