 GE ANNOUNCES REDEMPTION OF CERTAIN DEBENTURES
 FAIRFIELD, Conn., Aug. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- General Electric Company


announced today that it had called for redemption on Sept. 15, 1992 all of its outstanding 8-1/2 percent debentures, due 2004, and all of its outstanding 7-1/2 percent debentures, due 1996. The 8-1/2 percent debentures are being called at 102.38 percent of the principal amount thereof, plus interest accrued thereon to the date of redemption. The 7-1/2 percent debentures are being called at par. Since Sept. 15, 1992 is a regular interest payment date for the 7-1/2 percent debentures, the installment of interest due on that date, will be paid to the persons in whose names the 7-1/2 percent debentures are registered at the close of business on Aug. 31, 1992.
 On and after Sept. 15, 1992 no further interest will accrue on either the 7-1/2 percent or the 8-1/2 percent debentures.
 Payment of the redemption price will become due and payable on and after Sept. 15, 1992 upon presentation and surrender of the debentures:
