 GE AMERICOM SCHEDULED TO LAUNCH SATCOM C-4; NEW GENERATION
 SATELLITE WILL CARRY NATIONWIDE CABLE PROGRAMMING
 PRINCETON, N.J., Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- A new window on the world for cable television programming services is scheduled to be launched this month.
 GE American Communications, Inc. (GE Americom) will launch its new- generation communications satellite, SATCOM C-4, on Aug. 15 from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The satellite will be launched aboard a McDonnell Douglas Delta II rocket, and will be placed in geosynchronous orbit 23,500 miles above the equator.
 SATCOM C-4 will be used exclusively to distribute major cable programming to more than 10,000 cable TV systems in all 50 states.
 The satellite will carry the following popular services:

 -- Family Channel
 -- C-Span
 -- QVC Network
 -- Lifetime
 -- Jones Space Segment
 -- Madison Square Garden

 -- Home Shopping Network
 -- AdStar
 -- NuStar
 -- The Travel Channel
 -- WWOR
 -- Request TV
 -- Viewer's Choice
 -- The Movie Channel
 -- VH-1
 "SATCOM C-4 is the first of our new-generation cable satellites. Connelly, chairman and chief executive officer, GE Americom.
 SATCOM C-4 was constructed by GE Astro-Space Division, East Windsor, N.J. It will be placed into geosynchronous orbit at 135 degrees W.L. This advanced, 3-axis-stabilized satellite is designed to provide a 12-year service life and carries 24 C-band transponders, each with 17 watts of output power.
 GE Americom, located in Princeton, uses the SATCOM fleet -- five C-band and two Ku-band satellites -- to service cable television, broadcast radio and television as well as business information and government markets. GE Americom is a subsidiary of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE).
