GDC to release the NexEra convergence switch range.

TELECOMWORLDWIRE-(C) 1994-9 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD General DataComm Industries is due to unveil its NexEra convergence switch family for IP, data and telephony this week. The NexEra family features advanced traffic management, including multi-tier traffic shaping; a variable bit rate, toll-quality, packetized voice and voice and broadband signalling components. Using the switches, carriers can offer customers Virtual Private Networks for voice and data, 'Last Mile' ATM and IP services, national and international voice backhaul, bypass and switching, as well as subscriber aggregation and switching for DSLAM access networks. NexEra switches are available in the CS6400 model, which supports up to six interface modules for up to 3,000 voice parts available in September and the CS6600, which offers 15 interface modules for 7,200 voice ports available in 4Q'99. Pricing commences at GBP20,000.
