GCC plans move to digital TV broadcast.

The GCC is set to begin the move from analog to digital television broadcasting, said delegates at a major meeting of telecom, IT and post GCC ministers in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting at the Emirates Palace confirmed the importance of the procedures established by the team for the successful application of TV broadcast, and encouraged the transition to digital broadcasting.

In addition to seeking the best available technology for the application of this system, the meeting agreed to prepare a media plan with clear dimensions and parameters for increasing public awareness and encouraging the public to see the programs on this broadcast.

In terms of international roaming charges, the GCC ministers decided that the countries will move the implementation of the second phase to a second meeting of the roaming working group.

The GCC telecommunications regulatory authorities will inform the operators immediately after this meeting to implement the resolution and move to the second phase.
