GCC chief welcomes Korean leaders' summit.

04 : 19 PM - 24/04/2018 Riyadh, Apr. 24 (BNA): Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, has welcomed the upcoming summit between the leaders of South Korea, Moon Jae-in, and his North Korean counterpart, Kim Jong-un. Dr. Al-Zayani expressed hope that the summit, due to be held on April 27, will reduce tensions in the Korean peninsula, and achieve progress towards an effective solution to the nuclear programme of North Korea in accordance with the international conventions on the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. The GCC chief commended the efforts exerted by South Korea and the United States so as to hold the summit, and preserve global security and peace. W H Q BNA 1218 GMT 2018/04/24
