GB call-up for Loughborough Town swimmer.

LUCY Sharp, who trains with Loughborough Town Swimming Club, has been selected to represent Great Britain in the Deaf European Swimming Championships, to be held in Lublin, Poland.

The championships will take place in July and follows on from Sharp's success last year when she represented Great Britain in the Deaflympics in Turkey.

During January and February, Lucy competed in ten events at the Leicestershire County Championships securing top 8 positions in all ten events. In both the 50m freestyle and 50m butterfly Lucy won bronze in the 16 years and over age group. She also finished 4th in 50m back, 100m and 200m Individual Medley, 6th in 200m freestyle, 7th in 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle & 200m backstroke and 8th in 100m backstroke.

Over the course of the County Championships, 16-year-old Lucy set the following Deaf records: GB National Age Group short course records in: 50 Fly, 50 Free and 100 IM and and English National short course records in: 50 Free, 50 Fly and 100 IM Lucy's next competition is the National Deaf Championships on Saturday, March 24.
