 GATEWAY 2000 DROPS PRICES UP TO $200
 NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Gateway 2000 this


week dropped the prices on several of its high-end desktop PCs by as much as $200, company officials said today. The company's 50MHz 486DX2 and 25MHz 486SX system were dropped $200, while the 50MHz 486DX2 EISA was lowered $100. The new prices are effective immediately.
 "These latest price drops are once again the result of reduced costs to us, not in response to competitive price cuts," said Ted Waitt, president. "Our pricing philosophy from the start has been this: If you can drop your prices, then drop them. So when or costs go down, our prices go down, period," he continued.
 50MHz 486DX2 Now $2,795
 The 50MHz 486DX2 system, now priced at $2,795, comes standard with 8MB of RAM, a 200MB hard drive, a 64K RAM cache, the ATI Graphics Ultra video card and a 14-inch CrystalScan non-interlaced color monitor.
 25MHz 486SX Now $2,195
 The 25MHz system, priced at $2,195, features 4MB of RAM, a 200MB hard drive, the ATI Graphics Ultra video card and a 14-inch CrystalScan non-interlaced color monitor.
 50MHz 486DX2 EISA Now $3,895
 Now priced at $3,895, the 50MHz 486DX2 EISA comes with 8MB of RAM, a 340MB SCSI cache hard drive, a 128K RAM cache and a 14-inch CrystalScan non-interlaced color monitor.
 33MHz 486DX Now $2,495
 The final change to the Gateway 2000 product line is to the 33MHz 486DX system. Now priced at $2,495, this system features 4MB of RAM, a 200MB hard drive, a 64K RAM cache, the ATI Graphics Ultra video card and a 14-inch CrystalScan non-interlaced color monitor.
