 PRICE/PERFORMANCE VALUES SPUR MANAGEMENT HIRES
 NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., March 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Gateway 2000, a leading direct marketer and manufacturer of IBM-compatible personal computers, today announced several new management appointments in the company. "Gateway is growing and developing at an extraordinary rate, so over the past few months, we have added to the management staff to ensure that we continue to provide the best price/performance values in the computer industry, and to look for new ways to improve our products and support," said Gateway 2000 President and CEO Ted Waitt.
 The New Appointees:
 Assuming their new positions March 9 are Mary Kosel, customer service manager, and Denis Lueders, technical support manager.
 Kosel has been with the company since 1988 and most recently served as a sales supervisor. As customer service manager, she will work to immediately resolve customers' questions and concerns.
 Lueders, with Gateway since 1990, previously served as customer service manager. He will be responsible for continuously finding ways to improve technical support.
 Kosel and Lueders will report to Vice President of Sales Todd Osborn.
 Other New Members:
 Since December, Gateway has appointed several other members to the management staff.
 John Morrissey, controller, came to Gateway in February from Coopers & Lybrand in New York City, where he was an audit manager and conducted the outside audit for Gateway 2000. In this newly created position, Morrissey overseas the company's Accounting and Finance departments and reports directly to Executive Vice President Rick Snyder.
 Dave Finseth, quality manger, and Tom Yeung, industrial engineer, are both from Houston, Texas. They are responsible for quality and operations. Finseth held the position of manager of quality assurance for CPU manufacturing operations at Compaq Computer Corp. prior to joining Gateway in January. He reports to Bob Spears, information services director. Yeung, a nine-year Compaq veteran, recently held the position of senior project engineer. He assumed his new position in February and reports to Shane Hartnett, production manager.
 Dennis Kaye, director of human resources, previously worked for Ford Motor company in Detroit for 26 years before joining Gateway in December to head the Human Resources department. He reports directly to Snyder.
