GASOLINE PRICES INCREASE 5.9 CENTS SINCE OCTOBER
CLEVELAND, Nov. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorists in Greater Cleveland saw

the price of gasoline at the pump increase 5.2 percent during the month of October, Cuyahoga County Auditor Tim McCormack today reported.
According to a study released by McCormack's office this morning, the average price of self-serve regular unleaded fuel rose 5.9 cents per gallon, from $1.12 to $1.179, throughout the county in a period from Oct. 1 through Nov. 5.
The average price for full-service unleaded regular jumped 2.8 cents per gallon from $1.50 to $1.528 during that same time frame.
Industry sources have stated the increase is a result of the new oxygenated gasoline entering the marketplace.
At the same time last year, the average price of self-serve gasoline was $1.138, and $1.47 for full-service.
By law, McCormack's office is required to inspect gasoline pumps outside of the city of Cleveland to ensure their accuracy.
The EPA mandated oxygenated gas use in Northeast Ohio, and 38 other metropolitan areas throughout the United States in order to reduce carbon monoxide emissions in cars and trucks by 17 percent.
McCormack's review indicates Gastown had the lowest average price of self-serve gas, $1.165 per gallon; while Marathon had the highest average one-gallon cost, $1.199.
Here are the average prices, and monthly price hikes, on a company- by-company basis:
COMPANY PRICE/GALLON CHANGE FROM LAST MONTH
 Gastown $1.165 9.6 cents
 Union 76 $1.169 5.7 cents
