GAS RATES FOR PE SUBURBAN CUSTOMERS CUT 9 PERCENT DEC. 1
PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Philadelphia Electric Company

(NYSE: PE) rates for its suburban natural gas customers will be reduced by another 9 percent, effective Dec. 1, it was announced today.
PE's rate reduction, the second in as many years, was approved by the state Public Utility Commission (PUC) today. A year ago, PE decreased its gas rates by 6 percent. PE files with the PUC for an annual rate adjustment based upon actual and projected natural gas supply costs.
A typical residential natural gas heating customer using 115 thousand cubic feet per year will realize a reduction in annual costs from $851 to $775, beginning Dec. 1. The rate decrease further increases the savings now being experienced by PE natural gas home heating customers compared to those heating with oil.
Kenneth G. Lawrence, PE vice president, Gas Operations, said, "PE vigorously pursues a least-cost procurement policy consistent with its obligation to provide safe, economic, and reliable service to our customers. We're pleased that lower natural gas prices, coupled with the stable long-term supply outlook, has resulted in savings that can be passed along to customers."
PE provides natural gas to approximately 350,000 customers in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.
