 GAS PRICE UP ONE WEEK, DOWN THE NEXT, AAA REPORTS
 ORLANDO, Fla., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The national average price of


self-serve regular unleaded gasoline has begun to resemble a seesaw; up one week and down the next, the American Automobile Association reports.
 AAA's Fuel Gauge Report shows the nationwide average price of regular unleaded is down .8 cent this week to $1.163 per gallon. The price increased .5 cent last week, July 28, but was down .2 cent on July 21. The price was up .2 cent on July 14, down 2.1 cents on July 7 and up .3 cent on June 30.
 This week the price was lower in the Great Lakes, Midwest and west, but higher in other regions.
 The Fuel Gauge Report -- based on a nationwide spot check of gasoline stations -- was conducted for AAA by Computer Petroleum Corp. of St. Paul, Minn.
 The national average price of self-serve mid-grade unleaded is down .5 cent at $1.257 per gallon. The price of premium unleaded is .2 cent lower at $1.344.
 In addition to surveying for the AAA Fuel Gauge Report, Computer Petroleum Corp. publishes the National Petroleum Price Index, which monitors more than 50,000 daily wholesale and retail gasoline prices throughout the United States and Canada.
 AAA is a not-for-profit federation of 145 motor clubs with more than 1,000 offices providing its more than 33 million members in the U.S. and Canada with travel, insurance, financial and auto-related services.
