GAS PRICE UP .3 CENT AS OXYGENATED FUEL INTRODUCED, AAA REPORTS
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- With 39 metropolitan areas introducing a new, cleaner burning gasoline this week, the nationwide average price of self-serve regular unleaded gasoline increased in all regions -- up .3 cent to $1.161 per gallon, the American Automobile Association reports.
Prior to this week's Fuel Gauge Report some oil industry sources predicted a gasoline price increase of several cents due to Sunday's (Nov. 1) introduction of oxygenated fuel. The nationwide average gas price has been relatively stable since June, AAA said.
The Fuel Gauge Report -- based on a nationwide spot check of gasoline stations -- is conducted for AAA by Computer Petroleum Corp. of St. Paul, Minn.
The average price for self-serve mid-grade unleaded is up .4 cent to $1.255 per gallon. Premium unleaded increased .2 cent to $1.341.
In addition to surveying for the AAA Fuel Gauge Report, Computer Petroleum Corp. publishes the National Petroleum Price Index, which monitors more than 50,000 daily wholesale and retail gasoline prices through the United States and Canada.
AAA is a not-for-profit federation of 145 motor clubs with more than 1,000 offices providing its more than 34 million members in the U.S. and Canada with travel, insurance, financial and auto-related services.
