GAS COMPANY REPORTS NO FIRE DAMAGE TO PIPELINE NETWORK

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California Gas Company reported this morning that the Topanga/Malibu Fires had inflicted no damage to its gas pipeline network. However, to assist fire fighting measures in the area, The Gas Company has shut off service to more than 540 homes and businesses.
The Gas Company, which has had service crews working around the clock from a temporary emergency base established at Pepperdine University, has begun prioritizing service restoration in the affected areas. Once safety authorities allow entry into those fire-damaged regions, service restoration will begin.
Locations currently without gas service as of 8 AM this morning include: Rambla Vista/Paseo Serra; Rambla Pacifica; Los Flores/Rambla Pacifica; Big Rock; Old Malibu Road; and Topanga Canyon Lane.
As in last week's fires that heavily damaged Altadena and Laguna, The Gas Company expects to establish fire victim assistance centers to help those customers with their utility service, once the fires are under control. The company will waive gas bills for those customers whose homes have been destroyed by fires and also will waive service connection and start up fees new gas service for those customers who have had to relocate to temporary residences because of fire damage to their homes. Finally, The Gas Company will provide a donation to the local Red Cross to help with emergency assistance.
