GARY: ROBERTS IS JUST WORLD CLASS.
GARY TEICHMANN has told Wales they have a diamond geezer in the shining form of Lions centre Jamie Roberts. Teichmann - the former Springboks skipper who spent three years in Wales with Newport - has been hugely impressed by hard man Roberts, who was finally forced to miss yesterday's final Test in South Africa due to injury.
"I think Jamie Roberts and Brian O'Driscoll have both been outstanding on the Lions tour," Teichmann (above) said.
k "I obviously knew a lot about O'Driscoll (far right), but Roberts was someone I hadn't seen much of. He was superb and caused all the South African teams problems with his power and directness in midfield.
"He takes a lot of stopping - not just because of his strength, but the way he accelerates into the tackle.
"So long as he stays fit then he is going to be a huge player for Wales because there are very few players in the world who can offer what he can offer to a back line."
Teichmann reckons the Boks just about deserved their series victory and even has backing for his fellow back rower Schalk Burger following his eight-weeban for eyegouging in the Second Test.
"Schalk is aware he made an error, but I don't think it was deliberate. I don't think he meant to make contact with his oponent's eye.
"I actually don't think he deserved a red card because the referee doesn't have the benefit of replays and on first sight it looked more like a hand pushing someone away."
