GARRETT S. HART NAMED PRESIDENT, NETWORK TELEVISION DIVISION

 HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Garrett S. Hart has been named president of the network television division of the Paramount Television Group, it was announced today by Kerry McCluggage, chairman of the group.
 Most recently senior vice president of current programs for Universal Television, Hart will be responsible for the development and production of all of Paramount Network Television's original dramatic and comedy programming for all networks and first-run syndication.
 In making the announcement, McCluggage stated, "We are fortunate to have Garry join our team. Having witnessed his superior abilities at Universal, I am confident Garry will be vital to the growth of his division and the Television Group."
 Hart joined Universal in 1987 and since 1990 has been senior vice president, current programs. Series produced under his tenure include: "Miami Vice," "The Equalizer," "Major Dad," "Quantum Leap," "Murder, She Wrote," "Law & Order," "Coach," and "Northern Exposure."
 "I am thrilled to be joining Kerry and to get the opportunity to work on the incredibly successful Paramount team," Hart commented.
 Prior to his joining Universal, Hart was senior vice president, research, for Lorimar-Telepictures Corp., which he joined after a four- year tenure at Paramount. He first joined Paramount in 1979 as manager, and then vice president of research; he later shifted to director of comedy development in 1982.
 Hart holds a master of arts degree and Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He performed his undergraduate studies at Queens College, C.U.N.Y.
 The Paramount Television Group is a member of the entertainment operations of Paramount Communications.
