GARETH RULES OUT SONIANS SWITCH.
Flockhart - who helped Sonians win the Peebles tournament on Sunday - was linked with the Myreside outfit in the wake of County's relegation to Division Two.
But the Glasgow-Caley Reds back-row man said: "The only reason I played was because Stirling were not involved in any sevens at the weekend.
"I want to keep my place in the Scotland squad for next month's Air France competition in Paris and it was important for me to get some practise."
Flockhart confirmed that he had been invited to join the Watsonians line- up by coach Andrew Ker, who is also in charge of the national short-game squad.
He added: "In terms of the future nothing should be read into it. As far as next season is concerned, if I am able to play any club rugby then I hope it is for County if at all possible.
"I have been connected with them since I was a kid and I would like to play a part in getting them back to where they belong."
Scotland A and Edinburgh Reivers hooker Rob Russell also turned out for Sonians, and there was widespread speculation that James Craig would be in their line- up for the Glen Ord Melrose Sevens at the Greenyards on Saturday.
But Craig stressed: "I will not be playing any sevens this year. I am using the next few weeks to concentrate on my sprinting and working with weights in an effort to be in good shape for next season."
