 GARCIA NAMED TO KAISER FOUNDATION HEALTH PLAN, HOSPITALS BOARD
 OAKLAND, Calif., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel Garcia has been elected to the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc. and Kaiser Foundation Hospitals boards of directors, effective Sept. 1, 1992. Garcia is senior vice president of real estate planning and public affairs at Warner Bros. Inc., Los Angeles. Prior to joining Warner Bros., he was a partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Munger, Tolles & Olson, where he specialized in real estate law, civil litigation and labor law.
 Garcia's civic involvement has included serving as hearing examiner for the Los Angeles City Police Commission (1975-76); president of the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners (1991-92); Los Angeles planning commission president (1978-88); and a member of the Los Angeles School Monitoring Committee (1976-79). Professional activity has included terms as director of the Los Angeles County Bar Foundation (1986-87) and president of the Mexican-American Bar Association.
 Garcia is a graduate of Loyola University of Los Angeles, the USC Graduate School of Business and the UCLA School of Law. He is a decorated Vietnam veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1967-69. Garcia has been on the board of directors of the Hispanic Leadership Program of the CORO Foundation, the UCLA Foundation, the Arroyo Vista Family Health Foundation, the Central City Association, New Economics for Women, the LA 2000 Committee, the Los Angeles Music Center, the LA Greater Partnership for the Homeless, the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, the Rockefeller Foundation and the Greater Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce. He was recently named to serve on the board of directors of the Environmental Defense Fund.

 Kaiser Permanente is a pre-paid, group-practice HMO with 6.6 million members in 16 states. A community-oriented, non-profit organization, Kaiser Permanente evolved from health care programs for construction, shipyard and steel mill workers for the Kaiser industrial companies during the 1930s and 1940s, and was opened to public enrollment in 1945. The organization encompasses Kaiser Foundation Health Plan Inc.; Kaiser Foundation Hospitals; and 12 Permanente Medical Groups, which include more than 75,000 technical, administrative and clerical employees and 9,000 physicians representing all specialties.
