GAME ON: Get a gob full of Bellamy! A SIDEWAYS LOOK AT LIFE AT HIGHFIELD ROAD.

SKY BLUE sarnies will be on the menu for hungry Coventry City fans visiting the new Arena next season.

City fan Mark Redhead is opening a sandwich bar offering snacka manued after such heroes as John Sillett and Micky GYnn.

Other City dishes on the menu will include the McGrath Wrap, Bennett's

Baguette and Cheese and Pickering sandwiches.

But the competition to sell the ultimate Sky Blue sarnie is already hotting up, with many other retailers looking to muscle in on the lucrative

sandwich-as-weak-pun market.

One seller already offers a menu 'to suit all tastes and all pockets - as

long as they're empty upon completion of the transaction'.

His sandwiches include:

The Bellamy Bap - 'unsavoury and to no-one's taste but guaranteed to give the customer a real gobful'.

The Sherwood Surprise - 'the only surprise in this bite-sized treat is

that it just can't be found anywhere. Not during the football season anyway'.

The Staunton Sarnie - 'Admittedly a bit stale and curling at the edges,

but this classic dish can still fill a hole, however slowly'.

The Jorgensen - 'Available in two sizes - sub and super sub'.

The Killer - 'Not, as many might imagine, a tribute to Brian Kilcline -

after all how can you represent a nasty blonde-streaked mullet/perm combo in a sandwich? No, we've gone for a more literal approach by stuffing this sarnie with a pound of lard, death cap mushroom topping and a flavoursome arsenic mayonnaise. A coma guaranteed within the hour or your money back'.

Not to be outdone, Coventry City have long been planning their own sandwich empire.

But, as a spokesperson explained, the whole venture has been beset by

problems from the start.

He said: "We've made sandwiches in the time-honoured Coventry City way.

"We've bought a lot of ingredients in on the cheap, and nearly all of these

simply haven't worked well together at all.

"We've also developed some of the fillings ourselves, with excellent results in many cases.

"The problem is, as soon as we realise how good a particular home-grown ingredient is, we always end up selling it on to a bigger, more ambitious sandwich maker.

"We just can't help ourselves, I'm afraid.

"Leopards and spots, old dogs and new tricks. I'm sure you understand."
