GALVIN AND LEFERE ELECTED VICE PRESIDENTS OF CONSUMERS POWER COMPANY

 JACKSON, Mich., April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Doris F. Galvin and Royal P. Lefere Jr. have been elected vice presidents of Consumers Power Company. Announcement of the promotions was made today by Frederick W. Buckman, president and chief executive officer.
 Galvin was named vice president and treasurer for the utility and Lefere was named vice president of rates and regulatory affairs.
 "The board and management are pleased to recognize the outstanding contributions of two long-time employees with these promotions," said Buckman. "Ms. Galvin has played an integral role in helping the utility return its finances to good health. Mr. Lefere has been a key member of the team that put together the successful settlement of the company's Midland-related issues."
 Galvin, 38, joined Consumers Power in 1974 in the Legal department and joined the Treasury department as senior treasury analyst in 1985. She was named assistant treasurer in 1986 and director of cash management and assistant treasurer in 1989.
 A native of Hudson, Mich., Galvin earned a bachelor of arts degree in management of human resources from Spring Arbor College.
 Lefere, 45, joined Consumers Power in 1970 as an associate rates analyst in the utility's general office and held a progression of rates and revenue requirement responsibilities. He was named the utility's executive director of rates and regulatory affairs in 1991.
 A native of Jackson, Lefere earned a bachelor of arts degree in finance from Michigan State University.
 Consumers Power Company, the principal subsidiary of CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE: CMS), is Michigan's largest natural gas and electric utility serving almost 6 million of the state's 9 million residents in 67 of the 68 Lower Peninsula counties.
