GALLUP SURVEY REVEALS IMPORTANCE OF BEING A GOOD KISSER
OAK BROOK, Ill., Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- If you think your love won't notice that you've put your pucker on remote control -- think again. Chances, are if your partner is like most, how you kiss is more important to him or her than you know. According to a just-released Gallup Survey, commissioned by the lip care specialists at Blistex Inc., 41 percent of the adults surveyed said it is very important that their partners be good kissers. Thirty seven percent say it is somewhat important while just 17 percent say it is not important at all. The survey also revealed that single adults are more likely than married adults to feel it's very important that their partners provide a good smooch. And the fine art of kissing is more important to younger single adults (under 30) than to older adults, especially 50 and older.
WHO KISSED WHOM?
When asked who initiated the first kiss, young women (30 and under) are more likely to admit having initiated the first kiss than their older (50 and older) counterparts. In general, however, male and female respondents to the Blistex Kissing Survey agreed it was the male who made the first move. Of all those who could recall their first kiss, 81 percent said the male initiated it. This finding parallels that of a similar kissing study conducted among teens. Blistex Inc.'s Teen Kissing Survey revealed that even now, the boy tends to make the first move.
LEGENDARY ROMANCE LIVES ON
Who is the most romantic couple ever, according to the survey respondents? Hands down, it's Shakespeare's star-crossed teen lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Twenty-six percent of all adults questioned named the enduring couple. Coming in a very distant second, each with only three percent of the vote, were Richard Burton/Elizabeth Taylor and Rhett Bulter/Scarlett O'Hara. Regardless of the fact that only two percent of the respondents said they themselves and their partners were the most romantic couple, a majority of adults would like to celebrate Valentine's Day with their spouse. One in five respondents, or 19 percent, would like to celebrate with their significant other. "As a company dedicated to maintaining and reviving smooth, healthy lips, our brands are silent partners in ensuring that there's plenty of healthy puckering this Valentine's Day," said Richard Green, president of Blistex Inc., the leading manufacturer of medicated lip care products. -0- 2/11/93 /NOTE: The results of the Gallup Survey, sponsored by Blistex Inc., are based on telephone interviews with a national sample of 1,015 adults, ages 18 and older, conducted from Nov. 12 through Nov. 18, 1992.
