GAL Acquires Courion to Enhance Capabilities in Elevator Services.

9 January 2018 - New York, US-based elevator component manufacturer GAL Manufacturing has acquired Missouri, US-based freight elevator door systems provider Comprehensive Manufacturing Services, L.L.C. (Courion) to enhance capabilities and expand product portfolio, the company said.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

GAL said Courion's products are complementary to GAL's broad product portfolio, and will bolster GAL's efforts to provide a range of products to independent elevator contractors and large elevator OE.

Courion produces Courion and Security Freight Door Systems. The company is the exclusive provider of Courion, Harris Preble and Guilbert replacement parts. New York, US-based freight door systems installer and repair services company Freight Tech, LLC is an IUEC contractor that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Courion.

GAL Manufacturing is a portfolio company of San Francisco, US-based private equity firm Golden Gate Capital. GAL is a designer, manufacturer and distributor of elevator components and systems.

The company is comprised of G.A.L Manufacturing Company, LLC, G.A.L Canada Elevator Products Corp. and Hollister-Whitney Elevator Corp.

GAL Manufacturing supplies electromechanical components used on elevator systems, including door operators and associated door equipment, geared and gearless traction machines, universally compatible microprocessor controllers, safety components, signal fixtures, push button panels and structural assemblies.

Golden Gate Capital is a San Francisco-based private equity investment firm with over USD 15bn of capital under management.
