GACA chief stresses Saudi role against terrorism.
Arab News CAIRO: The president of the General Authority for Civil Aviation (GACA), Abdulhakim bin Muhammad Al-Tamimi, stressed the interest of Saudi Arabia in standing with all countries against terrorism. The Kingdom is sparing no effort to foster the security of international civil aviation by combating terrorism and draining its sources of funding, he said. Al-Tamimi was speaking at conference on the security of civil aviation in Africa and the Middle East, held in Egypt's Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh on Aug. 22-24. Saudi Arabia has full respect for the 1944 Convention on International Civil Aviation and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which works to develop standards that help states combat terrorism against civil aviation, he said. The conference concluded by adopting the formation and ratification of the Aviation Security Roadmap for African and Middle Eastern States. Al-Tamimi said the main objective of the roadmap is to help and encourage states and concerned parties to cooperate to achieve sustainable security and safety, and to reduce human, economic and other losses.
