GAA: LUCKY 13 FOR CORK JUNIORS; Cork 0-10 Meath 1-04.

CORK'S football sides made a day of it in Portlaoise on Saturday, adding an All-Ireland JFC title to the senior's success.

The Cork/Sligo back door battle was the big draw for the 7,931 fans at O'Moore Park, but claiming a 13th JFC title was taken equally serious.

Cork lived dangerously at times and had to come up with a late scoring spree to see-off a determined Meath side.

Both sides were keen to keep up their good records in the competition - with Meath winners in 2003 and Cork looking for a first crown since 2001.

There was little between them at the break either with the scores tied at 0-3 apiece.

Cork felt they had done enough to ease home with four unanswered points after the restart - 0-3 of which came from Man of the Match Daniel Goulding.

But Meath retained a serious kick and 1-1 in two minutes - the goal a 45th minute Rory Maguire effort - put them back on level terms at 1-4 to 0-7.

Cork sealed it in style though with sub Donnacha O'Connor pointing twice, before Goulding knocked over a monster free in injury-time.
