Futures DJ night away.
The Futureheads make their second appearance in a week in Newcastle tomorrow. Entertainment Editor, Gordon Barr, has the details
Fresh off the back of last night's Futurefest, the Futureheads boys barely pause for breath before another show in the Toon.
Tomorrow night they join club promoters, Rattled by the Rush, for an exclusive DJ set as part of their Christmas Party at Northumbria University's Students' Union, in Newcastle.
Rattled by the Rush are celebrating the end of a very successful year in style. Ambassadors of the local music scene, they are staying true to form with this week's event which sees The Futureheads heading up the bill with the DJ set while local favourites, This Aint Vegas, will provide the live entertainment.
Mark Taylor, founder of Rattled by the Rush, says: "It promises to be a party to remember. We did a similar thing last year when we were at a smaller venue and filled it on word of mouth alone.
"This year everything is a bit bigger, and that makes it all the more exciting."
September of this year saw the promoters re-launch the club night as a weekly event at its current home of Reds Bar at Northumbria Students' Union.
Again the event featured predominantly local bands ( Paul Smith, lead singer of Maximo Park was in attendance undertaking DJ duties for the night with Dartz! and Catweasels playing live.
The night attracted 1,500 people and established Rattled by the Rush as a force to be reckoned with.
Taylor continues: "That was probably the highlight of anything Rattled by the Rush has done so far.
"I think it's great that the North East has such a vibrant music scene now that you can throw a party of that scale based mainly on local talent."
Since then the promoters have continued to showcase the best in both local and up-and-coming talent from around the country on a weekly basis with the bands playing to capacity crowds at the Rattled by the Rush club.
Tomorrow's show is the final event of 2006. Taylor says: "It's been a great year, a year which has seen my little pipedream evolve from a hobby to a full time job and then beyond what I had imagined.
"We've got some exciting things planned for the future and I can't wait to see where we can take things in 2007."
The Rattled by the Rush Christmas Party with Futureheads DJ set and This Aint Vegas takes place tomorrow at Reds Bar, Northumbria University Students' Union, Newcastle, 10pm to 2.30am, pounds 5 entry.
